Everything Is In The Eye Of The Beholder

Only when we understand the cause that led to a certain manifestation of the present can we change our way of seeing things and reality.

The sun was just setting. A few clouds had appeared in the sky, but I don’t think they were bringing precipitation. Spiritually cradled by a winged dream, I watched the light drain from the expanse of sea and sky, wondering if the decision to leave the coast was a good one or not. Something was pushing me to go home, far from the seaside, something else was urging me to stay there, close to the feeling of a summer vacation, in the midst of the thrill of experiences, aspirations and emotions that animate only brilliant artists: they love life and show how beautiful it is.

A spark of joy had appeared in my eyes, discreet but effective, just as the reddish sun lit up the horizon for the last time. After all, the most telling proof of understanding art, sensing fidelity to nature (in a work of art) is to observe a phenomenon that gives you the chance to really be someone else, to get emotionally involved in a circumstance that can be appreciated as extremely important, triggering the act of remembering a past day, full of melancholy.

And if it is true what someone said, that the artist must be in his work just as divinity is in creation, invisible and all-powerful, that is to be felt everywhere, but nowhere seen, then I believe that I felt a superior power in me: the power of being inspired by the experience of the present, the power to merge with EVERYTHING around, far from being a kind of universe closed in itself.

Somehow, I felt that I was rising to divinity by the exceptional fact of giving the impression that I had made light where the sunset left room for interpretation. This phenomenon full of mystery, but absolutely natural and ordinary, Treastemiraz Inspha Saptarhio (the felt presence of sustainable living), will always raise me in the eyes of the viewers of my art.

Leadership: Have you opened the eyes of the viewers of your art, or have you opened your eyes better by suggesting multiple perspectives of collaboration between the perceptible and the imperceptible field?

The impression of penetrating the depths of space forms the measure of art for centuries through the action of waves in continuous motion, which are transformed by refraction into magical pearls or pieces of glass. One must not overlook the fact that sight is close to hearing, and to this extent to sense, for what I see in myself is nothing but sense integrated into hearing. If in this sense I ask myself the question: “what is sight?”, then I find myself in the same situation as the old man who, looking at the open sea, in the wind, wondered what hearing is in the field of deep feeling.

The succession of realistic shades, the flashes of meaning around the waves, more and more faithful to a spiritual state, seem distributed in uneven parts, because each wave is distinguished from the other by something barely perceptible from a distance, such as the wings of a seagull or the slow hum of a ship. Looking around naturally, without ordering my eyes to look only at what they are prepared to see, I felt for a few seconds a kind of divine inspiration, like a kind of perplexity, because I did not understand much, but I loved it wildly. I would say that this is the field imperceptible to those outside the world of art.

Why am I saying this? Because I felt that I was part of a dream that emitted an unusual glow, a dream that I wish would never end, a dream that other dreamers also dreamed, whose dreams fulfill the principle of pure, free, unfettered art. Onbasha-Ushastes – the art of conscious dreaming. This is the perceptible field for those who know how to appreciate what beneficially breaks the monotony of everyday life.

Without in any way rebelling against any side of the science of observation, I will continue to superimpose what I see upon what can be anticipated by means of the simplicity, naturalness, and depth of the symbols. Broadly speaking, appearance tends to become reality at the end of a visual analysis that would not fully justify its effort to perceive the “particular” from the borders of composition and colorism, crossing absolutely anything, unless I manage to see everything through the distant eye of a photographer, and with the imagination of a graphic designer.

Leadership: Can you control what is seen, in an attempt to recognize a reality that admits only concrete representations of the world?

Also then, while the sea repeated its eternal rhythm hitting the shore, I was thinking about that man who lived as if outside of time, in eternity, in his world full of dreams. To add another incident to the day he had lived near the sea, he decided to read and leave the impression that nothing had happened in his life. He opened the book “A thousand and one nights”, and began to turn the pages, leafing through them without paying attention, as if he wanted to ignore reality. Suddenly, he saw his name written in large letters, somewhere in the middle of the book. And to make this coincidence even greater, the character who bore his name was exactly the same age as him, was born in the same city and at the same time, had the same stature and suffered from the same condition: myopia. He couldn’t believe it. Then something made him devour the book to the last page. And, wouldn’t you believe it: the last page was missing. Only then did he unravel the mystery of wisdom: what you expect to see does not conform to what you need to know.

Man is what he is not, and he is not what he thinks he is. The cause of this existential principle has its source in what you see when you try to recognize a reality that admits only concrete things. I would say that vision is also a psychological necessity, a correction of the distance between the ephemeral reality and the remaining image, in the modest attempt of man to predict the desired future, letting himself be dragged by emotions in an unclear need to illuminate the unknown, this challenge being addressed to the Ego that says “I know better”, “I have read”, “I’ve encountered before”.

Following such teachings, man gradually arrived at what he is today, slowly adapting, obeying his nature, becoming the only being endowed with the consciousness of seeing, freeing himself from the incidence of any analytical mental processes. Therefore, nature is no longer a mystery to him, nor is the expanse around him an unknown one. He conquered them, he dominates them by traveling the huge road from the imaginary to the concrete vision, from the visualization of an image inspired by clichés, customs, automatisms, to a reality in which nothing is as it was before.

An additional factor given to leadership is that the deepest and most comprehensive vision belongs only to eyes that know how to observe nature in its pure state, trying to understand it and discover its secrets, without getting used to a primordial, uncertain and intangible reality.

Everything Is In The Eye Of The Beholder, including the phenomena of nature are part of the specific vision of a painter, a “perceptive analyst” who constantly renews his inspiration, optics and procedures of his art. And if you refer to art, reality involves presenting your senses with a virtual generated environment, as a duplicate of physical space, which you can explore in different ways.

As you noticed, I was able to change my way of perceiving reality only when I understood the cause that led to a certain manifestation of the present (in form and color). The cause was the contemplation of the idea of beauty in the presence of a state of mind that is a living wound: “Between sunrise and sunset / there is only wound and sand” (Lucian Blaga – Psalm)
