A Salvation Buoy For All Those Who Are Drowning
Polish your self-knowledge, in order to increase the value of your positive ego.
I remember an important moment in my life, when looking at me in the mirror I said, "I do not care who I am ! I do not care about me ! "
A Spartan desire for self-destruction, due to the diminished capacity of self-outrunning, was storming in me, cold and ruthless. As a man who categorically got rid of the inconvenient ballast of some eternal moral principles, I felt compelled to push further and further, cold-blooded, fast-paced, until exhaustion, the huge ice block of fatality, emerged as if to knock me out.
An internal censorship was blocking the vigilance of my spirit, by removing hastily and imposing any remnant of my insatiable curiosity of knowing, to see what is having inside, more valuable "The Man". A kind of early coldness was flowing with power in me, conditioning any way to retrieve myself, to understand me better. I felt foreign to me, given away, abandoned in the middle of a terrible storm with its proportions, by its unforeseen. Carried back and forth like a sea wave, hit with intensity, and thrown without mercy into the great abyss of myself.
Nevertheless, I was to notice later, this very strange disquietude of the moment, this overwhelming struggle of my whole universe, the inevitable discharge, with all safety, of the direct tension induced by a negative thinking and in contradiction with reality, helped me by a cold analysis, to be more determined, perhaps wiser, tempering the spirit and making it stronger.
Can you take on a new perspective on the backdrop of the reflection of your own existence, the boundary between the uncertainty of intentions that animate you and the revealing experience of sharing the thoughts that haunt you?
This nervous tenseness, capricious, unbridled, to which another one perhaps could not resist more than a few hours, gnawed me like a thorn, put my soul, thoughts, and all powers to a hard trial. For an effort so consistently amplified in such a short period of time, demanded a complete attention and an absolute strength, intense, decisively to change the negative aspects that I tend to overlook.
A moment of weakness threw me up of the ship deck of self-knowledge. I was slipping down, like a granite rock, at the bottom of the deepest ocean. The ocean of truth, of consciousness, and inner feelings, of death and spiritual resurrection. I plunged into a state of serious uncertainty, in the extremely cold and cloudy water of disgust, of despair, wandering like a straw on high waters.
The only way to reunite myself spiritually, the only buoy of salvation, was to interrupt the line of thoughts, which stirred me, and to admit "The man" in me, my true opponent. To win the race with me. And to rise up above the angry water, above all that I felt.
The rational man of me, the real man finally has admitted himself.
Does the information gained from the experiences and accumulated teachings become a sort of external memory that you can access at any time as long as you have the willingness to understand the specifics of a mind that thinks of oneself?
You cannot be more than you try to obtain from yourself in the moment of thinking, first by sharing the thoughts that trouble you, if the representation that you make of your own reality is not a way of communicating with your own past, but also an explicit construction of identity, becoming a kind of memory of emotions and cognitions.
The "Destiny" of leadership, of the finest art of forming people, of the work of forming the personality, it is hidden behind your own potentiality or incapacity to overcome the moments when you cannot recognize your number one enemy: the man within you. This destiny can disunite, and grind like the soil, which becomes fine sand over time, largely because of a faulty thinking, of the emotions that come to the surface when you do not manage to face the truth, of which you move away because of the diminished capacity of self-outrunning.
The leadership, inextricably linked to the human destiny, of the one, who exercises his influence in the human area, gets value or degrades on the same battlegrounds between you and your own Ego. When you are tormented by strange prejudices, when you do not understand your place, role, level or reactions.
And when in the decisive moments of your life you feel stranger of yourself, appears the danger of leadership’s collapse.
How can you use to your advantage a knowledge based on the lessons learned from what you have experienced in the world of your own thoughts?
Have you seen how recovers a boat ready to sink? Do you realize that nothing serious happened to it - that somehow, even the longer period when it was on the verge of sinking, has its good parts.
Are you throwing yourself in a moment of weakness of the ship deck of self-knowledge? Or you find a way to better understand yourself, to see what's more valuable "inside" yourself? Do you have the power to get away from the boundless extent of the storm, which narrows your horizons, to redirect your Ego to a better-defined scale of value, and change your attitude? What are the good parts of the period while you were on the verge of getting "sink"?
Perhaps, Friedrich Nietzsche put the point on "I" when he related in his memoirs: "When you look long into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you."
Here is the oversensitive element that you encounter everywhere – uncertainty, alienation, deep crisis caused by the identity loss under the impact of self-consciousness. In the extension of leadership, this abyss represents the mixture of contradictions that resorbs the applied and innovative thinking (which has a special importance for your development), destabilizing the key-stages of the relationship with yourself. Or, on the contrary, through a twist of circumstances, it may be the opportunity to rediscover your own capabilities and limitations.
Going through the analysis filter of a judge every attempt to trace a certain direction in the movement of life, every aspect relevant to the delimitation of the coordinates of singularity (which can bring you closer to the truth of who you really are), you will be able to watch how your thinking reflects over time – which can materialize either in the involved form of simple insights and hypotheses, either explicitly and systematically, in affective or cognitive-behavioral approaches, which, in turn, have great resonance on practiced leadership.
