Under the influence of this strong impression, Eisenstein works on the editing of his film, making great new discoveries in terms of cinematic expression in his work practice. He works on editing in a "creative ecstasy", in a fever in which he allows himself to be impregnated by the frames of the film or which he "hears and feels". Again, the discovery of the mechanism of the creative method is subsequent to the "creative ecstasy" and takes place at the moment, not at all poetic, when the director is forced to pass his finished film through the editing table to shorten it.

This is no longer a moment of inspiration, but a simple technical operation. Revisiting his work in this way, the artist appears strange due to the apparent lack of reason of combining the frames. The editing criterion seems to him outside of any normal cinematographic criterion, completely incomprehensible. Barely trying to understand his own creation, he discovers the new laws he had made.
