Magical Power Cannot Be Acquired By A Mortal
Only inner mastery can turn you into a trailblazer for others, showing them the value of self-knowledge.
A month passed, spent by Cheops in readings and meditations. During the day he sat in his assigned room with only the second book of Thoth. He didn't go out, he ate figs, vegetables, bread and drank only water. He saw no one, except the priest who brought him food, with whom he did not speak. The only task imposed was to keep his room clean, to sweep, to wash the floor with plenty of water. In the evening, he would go up to the terrace to observe the sky, sit or lie on the mat, meditate and sleep for a few hours. When the soroc for the new moon approaches, Ibebi comes to Cheops. He sat down in front of him and said:
- Cheops, during this month while you were alone with yourself, your mind probably matured, you had time to meditate on all the things learned here. The time has come to pass a new gate on your initiatory path to the light. Immediately a pure priest will come who, as on the first day, will laugh at you, purify you, then you will be taken into the temple premises, so that you can see what can be seen and hear what can be heard. Then you will have to decide for yourself if you think it is necessary to stay in this room for a while, to immerse yourself again, or if you return to Memphis. There you will wait for the messenger of the Great Seer of Ra to come to you, to tell you that you are awaited at Abydos, where you are to complete your initiation, descending into the abodes of Osiris.
Do you now feel ready to pass the fifth gate and hear the secret words that will help you face the last mystery locked like a jewel in a lotus, revealed to those who are worthy of it in the hidden temple of Osiris?
How much do you think your perception of autonomy and control over beings and things would change by having access to hidden knowledge?
- I'm ready. Let the pure priest come to me, prepare me to pass the fifth gate. But let me ask you one more question. Ibebi nodded in agreement. Cheops said:
- I read the first book of Thoth, I read the second book of Thoth, I learned them both by heart. Is there a third book of Thoth, where the great mystery is revealed, by which you acquire the magical power of the spirit that gives you dominion over things and beings?
Ibebi nodded, was silent for a moment, then answered:
- Does this mysterious book of Thoth exist that you told me about? I can not tell you. I don't even know how you found out about its existence, because you seem to be talking about the book of Thoth the Great, the god thrice Great. But you must convince yourself that this magical power, to which you seem to aspire and which would confer a dominion over the world, cannot be acquired by a mortal, be he the son of a king.
Can the perception of authority over one's life change with deepening self-knowledge, where inner and outer reality begin to mirror each other in unexpected ways?
The only mastery that has value, for us humans, is self-mastery, mastery of our own spirit, self-knowledge and knowledge of nature, which gives us the greatest authority over ourselves. Don't look any further, because this domination that I told you about already means quite a lot of asceticism and an inner search that requires a lot of time and a lot of patience.
Ibebi kept another moment of silence, so that his disciple could understand his words well. Cheops knew that he should not ask any more questions about this book of Thoth. He lowered his head and waited for the priest to speak again.
- Now, said Ibebi, listen to my instructions, remember what you will have to say, what you will have to understand and respond to the words that the god Thoth will pronounce in front of you...
Before the gateway to enlightenment, every step is a choice between staying in the comfort of the known and venturing into the unknown. Stepping through the gates of knowledge requires the courage to explore the unknown and the maturity to face the hidden mysteries.
Magical power cannot be acquired by a mortal, but only if this mortal believes that mastering his own spirit can open new perspectives on how he perceives the surrounding reality. Let's not forget that the perception of authority over one's own life changes with the deepening of self-knowledge.
How do you think self-mastery and self-awareness can change your perspective on reality and self-worth?
