Shine Without Burning Out
The emotional power of an individual increases in direct proportion to the degree of truth assumed towards one's own person.
Yesterday, I watched again one of my favorite movies, "Tears of the Sun (2003)". Lieutenant Waters together with his commando's team escorted Doctor Kendricks and the approximately 35 refugees to the point Alpha, on the border with Cameroon. The elite troops of General Mustafa Yakubu were after them. At one point, the doctor sits next to him. She looks at him with a certain wonder, as well as with admiration. She tells him with that warmth of heart that you never find when you are looking for it:
- You did a good thing that you have ignored the orders of your superiors, and you came back to save these poor people.
The lieutenant looked at her maintaining a mysterious silence. However, this unexpected silence, unimaginable, gave him the impression that there was much to say, but that some discretion prevented him from speaking. Even so, he plucks up his courage:
- I don’t know how good I was. It's been so long since I haven’t done... a good thing, the right thing.
Can you build an emotional foundation from the echo of a troubled conscience, transforming the perception of reality into a bold vision that underpins the strength of your character?
The lieutenant said these words as if something raised in him old regrets. For the first time, he really understood the man within him - a being full of love for everyone, and this love full of spirit, full of caring and wisdom that never found his place in nobody’s heart, who challenged the fate almost with nonchalance, this love whose roots have powers of transformation, this love that makes good even the wicked ones – finally, woke up from hibernation. For the first time, the lieutenant truly felt his soul at peace.
The sculptors are choosing the most suitable rocks for their future works, rocks that are far from being perfect, but have visible defects and hidden defects. The sculptor’s mastery will manage to annihilate only the visible defects, but not also the hidden ones.
When a leader wants to win people's trust, he must first notify their hidden defects and to annihilate them. Furthermore, for his initiative to be a success, he must choose those emotional resources, which have left mark on their character, and to capture exactly the right moment to make them accessible.
The level of renewal of consciousness is directly proportional to the intensity of the courage to judge one's own deeds, regardless of the risk of losing one's leadership status.
One great deed helped Lieutenant Waters understand himself better. He understood that the most important quality he had been neglecting all along was compassion, and that it was all within his power to change. But only Dr. Kendricks somehow managed to bring to light that kindness that filled her heart as well. Basically, he discovered the truth that represented his true nature by choosing to act according to his own conscience despite the orders he received.
His consciousness was renewed by the frontal exploration of an act that was not incriminated in any way, even if it was attracting his suspension from the position of leadership. It became a consciousness freed by the previous tendencies towards violence, a consciousness safeguarded from the unconditional tendencies of alignment of the world with the principles of war, therefore one that manifests itself through the sharing of compassion, which does not mean cold ignorance, but rather an active promotion of good.
The perceptual conditions involved in such a consciousness are formed by reflecting reality in the essence of your being, as a sort of entry in a mirror that shows you not who you are, but who you could be in a crisis situation. What you understand in an event that does not go as you had wished, either marks you spiritually, or marks you for glorious deeds with the price of humiliating moral sufferings.
Does your momentum toward success awaken your awareness that you belong to a faith that acts as a warning before the final decision?
Are you capable of recreating an emotional foundation for those who have buried their feelings and emotions? Can you find the main ingredient that must be incorporated into your leadership so that, using your influence to enlighten people's consciences?
Just as a sculptor creates new and interesting models from pieces of stone, even so, a leader, who has built his leadership on some well-chosen values, must shape people according to his fundamental nature, after the positive side of his being. He must change their state of mind enfolding them with that beneficial vibration, with that moral power, with that healing energy, able to activate their inner system of beliefs, and to increase their motivation of changing themselves.
A true leader is not intended to mask and to cover the visible defects of people, but must be an "artist of souls" endowed with that energy, which would allow him to have a great influence on them. This leader shall be owed with the general idea of setting in order interiors, not of decorating exteriors.
A faith with a "notice before the final decision" value is revealed in the form of a valid warning in the situation in which you are determined to contradict a prognosis when the stake of the contradiction exceeds your perception of what happened. This caution comes from the consciousness in order to preserve the integrity of the Ego against the content full of "good" that erupts with force from a pure soul.
To be "spotless" in the world is to throw yourself into hard experiences, from which your image is born again - one regained through sacrifice.
Shine Without Burning Out expresses metaphorically that manpower, which continuously produce the energy needed for supplying the positive emotions and feelings of the emotional "system" of people. In order to raise your leadership to the rank of art, you must entertain the brilliance of people by aiming more towards the character that defines them, researching with a sensitivity of an artist their feelings, setting their "composition" of spiritual qualities - such as compassion, generosity and good conscience.
If you want to change people's beliefs, you have to use a more delicate molding, on several plans (emotionally and mentally, not just professionally) and also you must provide an inexhaustible source of stimuli that would fit perfectly in their emotional and cognitive system.
Are you capable of calibrating your leadership with this kind of energy, with that extraordinary finesse of rendering to people their true nature? Are you helping people to increase their emotional power by discovering the truth within themselves?
Conclusion: In leadership, the Human Resources are having a special role. People are different in terms of thinking, concepts and methods of action. The role of a leader is to bring to the same common denominator all those who have chosen him. Of course, this is sometimes very difficult to achieve if there is not that kindness, goodness of mind, and that availability of both parties.
If a leader manages to combine harmoniously the "spiritual modeling" along with improving performances, he "will shine without being consumed".
