Leadership 7th Edition by Neculai Fantanaru

Be a follower of a deterministic vision that integrates you into other people’s goals, without exceeding their choices in terms of achieving the set goals.

Clark Gable is one of the stars consecrated by an Oscar. He had a brilliant career, playing alongside some of the most important actors of that time. But with his role in “It Happened One Night”, the actor won not only the hearts of many admirers, but also the appreciation of the producers who continued to look for him. Legend has it, however, that there was a category of people who hated him terribly after the film’s premiere: the textile industry. Why? Because there was a real crash in the body t-shirt industry after the gorgeous actor, undressing to wash himself, was seen without a T-shirt under his shirt. Most of the men, especially the young ones, refused from that moment on to wear unnecessary textiles, which, of course, had a catastrophic consequence for the industrialists.

Can you ensure your long-term inclusion in a public dominance status by changing the meaning of the horizon that you can only reach from a certain altitude?

Let's agree on one thing: the altitude at which your image is located is directly proportional to the role you have to play. The leadership is not just a staging or acting lesson meant to get you closer to people and to raise their spirit. But, it is a process of planning through which you must anticipate the changes of mentality and attitude of the other people, to adapt to their desired style of image in such a way that to ensure the achievement of the common objectives.

Therefore, leadership is a process of becoming responsible for the reaction of the "public". That is why I believe you need to infiltrate into your leadership, whenever necessary, those active elements that would complement people's understanding, that would maintain their state of mind, and that would feed in them a sense of belonging to your own route towards performance.

Just as an artist manages to convey through a special technique the expressiveness of the human faces, in the same way, a leader must have a special technique, through which to strengthen people's faith that his leadership, his qualities, the principles that he follows, the goals that he aims, correspond to their intentions, and are helpful to their evolution for achieving performance and the desired welfare.

1. Is the only influence that you have on people the one that accompanies your celebrity? In other words, are you making use of the position you have in order to make people follow you? Or, you lay on the line your most valuable weapon: charisma?

2. People follow you because this is necessary, or because they want so?

3. You become better due to the position you have or you give to others the opportunity to develop your potential?

Are you able to make a career worthy of a king, masterfully playing roles other than the one that suits you best?

There are some leaders, who believe that handle better the art of relating to people, to relate authentically with them, believing sincerely (but they do not suspect and how puerile) that it is easier, more personally, “more appropriate” to show off all their attributes and qualities in order to be appreciated properly. That's what they claim everyone wants. Moreover, I believe with great conviction that they are perceived in a positive way when diversifying their guidelines and activities, adapting them to the requirements of their “public" for this reason they never consider themselves guilty.

However, this way of seeing things is more false than true, because they must be first of all prepared to meet a series of rules referable to insurance that they indirectly conclude with the people – namely that they will also develop, and will increase their areas of talent, and special skills, due to their performance. Leadership assumes influence, change, transformation at the level of mentality and value system.

A skillful leader does not convert his standpoint, refusing to interpret skillfully other roles than the one that fits him best, but rather allocates sufficient time to know people and to think how to evolve close to them. Hence, the leaders build strong and lasting relationships - not only seduce people for a while, and then leaving them.

Leadership is not a ticket that people pay for you to show off your skills. In this case, you will be tempted to stop at this point.

Are you able to establish a certain model of promoting your personal image through which you can effectively communicate your intentions and emotions, without moving away from the concrete reality that you share with others?

The leadership is like a compulsory insurance that you impose to people and it presupposes that they will receive compensation if their performance and the quality of their life it is deteriorating. Have you thought about the way of compensating people, if they do not reach the desired performance? If their duties are not fulfilled, if their morale drops, if their attitude and behavior are not maintained in balance, it means that you have failed to empathize with them, nor did you manage to inspire their interest.

Do you see more false than true? Are you able to see the truth of what you mean to people, or you continue to indulge yourself in the same state of mediocrity and not getting right anything? Can you put people in your place when you fail? Do you have the power to restore them to their previous situation? Are you changing your attitude and behavior? Are you changing your beliefs so that they could, in their turn, to change theirs? If you are not doing all this at the right time, then the price you will have to pay by yourself, it will be huge.

Are you are an agent of the change or a "Gambler"?

I said so many times, and I repeat: people are the mirror that reflects the "face" of your image. To try transforming yourself into an agent of the change, not solving the toughest problems of the people, without leading them on the way towards the true performance, but taking the least effective decisions - it is like wasting the largest share of your money on gambling. However, the losses, almost daily, amounting to large sums fails you. With each new failure, with each new refuse, you lose from your power of influence, you disqualify yourself as a leader - you are ruining yourself in a split second.

Be analytical with yourself before relating to others. Do not ever bet with your own identity, do not ever bet on the emotional impact you can have on people - until you do not create a favorable image, until you do not build a functional leadership. Start looking for the truth about yourself whenever you lose the "coordinates". Rethink your direction and possibilities of expression, and only then connect yourself to the other people. The best leader is the one who knows how to distinguish the thin line that separates him of his true Ego, who can perceive that range of non-verbal reactions of the people (which are in concordance with their feelings), of acceptance or refusal, and who knows how to adopt the best alternative action that would comply with the objective reality.

1. How well do people know you?

2. How well do you know yourself?

3. How do you raise people's motivation to contribute to the development of a qualitative relationship?

Leadership is the decisive action that can change the image of a foreign Brand and which you qualify as a facet of the self-image through which the consciousness of one’s own efficiency is expressed, validated by certain performances.

The threshold for entry into your true ego is your guarantee towards performance. In order to give impetus to your leadership, do not stop at that threshold where the vulnerabilities intervene in your development. Face the reality, and adapt your style and methods to the "quality" of the people that you lead. And, remember, if you are respectful, pleasant and productive, you can reach a level of influence over others, and to earn them pretty quickly by your side.
