A Great Ideal Dedicated To The Human Being
Facilitate people's access to your leadership, by planting in their consciousness the interest for your true ideals, virtues and qualities.
In the movie "Lionheart (1990)" of which I have discussed in the preceding article, the main character, Lyon Gaultier deserts from the Foreign Legion and reaches the United States. He finds his brother between life and death and his wife with no money to take care of her child. For helping her, he gets involved in illegal fights.
However, after him are sent two tremendous officers, deprived of any intrinsic philosophy - some perfect executors, inanimate of any conviction, of any form of kindness and empathy - two tough characters, created like by a technological creator without any trace of feeling. Wherever was Lyon, and they two made their appearance, angrier, impelled by a fiercer will to catch and to bring him back to the legion.
In the end of the movie, Lyon manages to win a hard fight against Attila. Exhausted, staggering on his feet, tottering, being convinced that soon he will feel the punishment, of which is having part all the deserters, regards for a moment his "shadows", and then he left himself completely in their hands. His tells good bye to his brother's wife and her daughter, his only left relatives, for whom he made all these sacrifices. Then, he is gotten into the car, flanked between the two officers.
Nevertheless, something is happening. Something unexpected. Suddenly, after a few hundred meters, the machine stops. The two officers turn their head to Lyon with pride. For the first time on their face was imprinted the sense of understanding, powered by a touch of admiration - like a fugitive spirit, altruistic, would have slipped in their being and would be lost in the labyrinth of their existence, making them generous - triggering in them, like some electrical currents, all the emotions, values, and feelings that a human being is capable of experiencing.
- You are free, Lyon. Go back to your family. Good luck !
Is the picture of what you really are taking shape when you are exposed to the condition of seeing the world in relation to what makes you feel free?
In what unexpected situation is the moment in which you are revealed the value of a causal being, about which you believed for your entire life that it does not define you? Probably in that situation where you manage to escape from a harsh context such as insisting on the impossible or total isolation of the world in the midst of an artificial and succinctly built pseudo-universe built.
I was impressed of the philosophical load of the following statement, belonging to the writer Stefan Zweig: "The man must be disposed to attribute to his will a power that it is exercised on the spiritual, having repercussions through it in the material world."
The will of a man to surpass himself, strengthened by expanding his own horizons, his own skills and values, it is constantly accompanied by a wave of changes that can direct his steps to a better use of his own strengths, and his own inner powers. Healing him through this way of any hostile and extreme events, of any defects, of any harmful human crumb content, of any malignant mood.
Your effectiveness in leadership resides precisely in this valorization of the strengths, of inner emotional and mental "waste’s" removal, through the discovery and sharing of values, from redirecting your own feelings, your own world of thoughts, to that reality where the understanding becomes possible and accepted unanimously by the people around, and that creates certain moral obligations of both parties.
What makes you feel free is the opportunity to experience the grandeur of the unexpected in response to activating the need to change the meaning of an existence from which nothingness has bit deeply.
Trying to gather people around you, without determining their transformation by strengthening your relationship with them, by perfecting and practicing your own virtues - is like trying to build a tower that is continuously collapsing. You will be back again and again from where you have started, you will fall in the zeal of the brick maker, by trying to arrange again and again, like some puzzle pieces, with a renewed and yet such a exhausting enthusiasm, the basic bricks of the leadership - without which your progress will not be possible.
Are you falling in the zeal of the brick maker?
The ability to relate emotionally and morally to other people is always limited by your effort to discover the hidden face of suffering, despondency and impotence experienced by an injustice or error of judgment.
Can you acquire a correct and complete understanding of the dimension of life by assuming responsibility for the outcome of a transformation experience induced by what you cannot control?
As a leader, you have a duty to constantly keep your noble character, to terminate any ideals, values and beliefs, which give you stability in the relationships with others. Therefore, you need to endow your leadership with the attribute to reject any content item with defective character, and to maintain constantly your spiritual and moral balance.
What exactly led the two officers, so cold in feeling and in deeds, to change their mind in the end and to abandon the cruel mission to bring Lyon back to the legion? Have they regained, suddenly, the humanity, not being influenced by any factor? Have they calmed their spiteful nature, by sipping a miraculous healing drink, endowed with the property to clean their whole being, and to make them better, forcing them to find the most appropriate way of relating to the others around?
So that to manage to shape the material from which is made the human being, like as a skilled craftsman shapes the clay as a veritable creator, to embellish his features, to modify his feelings - giving them a totally different characteristic, you must first plant in his consciousness the interest for your true ideals, virtues and qualities.
To accept a result that you cannot control is a virtue that consists in the power to endure the hardships and the inconveniences of life. Making a transformation in spite of this result is the measure of the value that you bring to the world.
A Great Ideal Dedicated To The Human Being indicates yours and your leadership’s guidance on what it is really important both for you and for the others around - that understand you, adopt your beliefs and accept your past, supporting you at present and encouraging in future.
The leadership involves changes in the human thinking and behavior, both concerning the leader - by the proper investigation of his own Ego, through self-reflection and assessment, and of the people whom he leads, and to which he must have a beneficial influence.
Blessed is the leadership that has incorporated this great ideal dedicated to the human being.
