Brilliance Of The Gem
Struggle to shine - but without falling into the trap of power thus obtained.
The King of Persia, Sharaman, also have ambitious plans and the belief that Dastan, his adopted son, was the most indicated person to carry them out. Dastan, named the "Lion of Persia", succeeded through a real tour de force to enter the holy city of Alamut and open the gates of the royal army to occupy it without much loss of life.
While celebrating the victory, The King Sharaman, who was the incarnation of the most cherished virtues of that time: a clear and orderly thinking, intelligence, generosity, vision, skill, wisdom and determination, congratulated Dastan for his victory. And gave him one last lesson:
- A good man would do like you Dastan, would have acted with boldness and courage for victory and saving lives. But a great man would have stopped the attack from the outset. A great man would have stopped what he knew it was wrong… regardless of who was commanded. You could be more than good Dastan, you could be great…
The way of action you are able to exercise in a plan narrower than the overall one, must be seen in terms of position adjustments as a result of a "take a second look" type of intervention?
The considerations are really natural from such a poignant spirit. The King Sharaman from the movie "Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time" was more concerned about not to instill faith and hope to his son, but to make him always think about the events and their consequences.
Dastan was unsurpassed in courage and bravery, resourceful and inventive, energetic and ambitious, but all this did not save him from the bad impression which he produced to the people of Alamut and Persia allies. As for all the inhabitants of Alamut, he was seen as an usurper. And just as Heliodor (from the Old Testament) while going to rob the temple in Jerusalem was banished by an angel - so Dastan risks being thrown out of Alamut and can even ultimately be humiliated.
On an inscription from a Chinese temple is written: "A gem not shines until you not polish it." A diamond, even if it is covered by one or more layers of stone, still remains a gem. But it must be polished to sidestep those layers and to reveal the diamond.
King's advice has served only to "refine" Dastan. What he actually tried to tell him is that it is not easy to act against the sense of duty and the sense dictated by heart. He taught him what means the strength of a human spirit.
Are your judgments stopped by important limitations in what regards the meaning of the work you are called upon to create?
To be an absolute leader is not enough to be good, you must be great. You have to make room for higher ideals, formulas with general human significance, not only do your duty. You need to know how to act to turn your personal vision into reality, avoiding actions that hinder this transformation and what can influence your value as a leader.
Concentrate on the primary objective while you worry and about all others, for that your glory knows an intense shine. As a true judge, always be right in your decisions, but at the same time humane. Use all the skills to not fail. For a decision made in haste based on emotions, can diminish your influence and can break your authority.
The most severe limitation imposed upon you by the direct follow-up of events is the achievement of a wide area of authority that does not manifest yourself in your experience: "I am just that, nothing more ! "
And the meaning of the work you are called upon to create, understood only by the wise, is to retain a certain nobility, unquestionable, without hoping that you are the only one in the world who knows the art of opening a new path to the future.
Do you dare to unbind your sensitive side, by giving vent to your own vulnerabilities?
Recipe for an ineffective leadership is doing often the wrong things. Conquered by high ideals and driven by the ephemeral illusions of his ambition, the leader can unbind his sensitive side giving vent to his own vulnerabilities. A consummate leader remains, however, very attached to reality, starting from its rigorous and insightful observation. He fathoms the events, and then filters them through the soul before making major decisions.
Many people imagine that they're leaders and experts, that they have all the answers about how to act. But many lack the "gem" that emphasize their potential. They are covered with imperfections that grind their talents and prevent them from being effective in the activities they perform, respectively in understanding of what influences their long-term success.
Here would come the advice my mother gave me a long time ago: "Struggle to shine - but without falling into the trap of power thus obtained".
Leadership encompasses all the great things you are doing in the name of a holy ideal, from which you have to drop the pride of having them !
Conclusion: So as the value of the gem grows by polishing that enhances its beauty, so people, especially leaders, need to "polish" themselves throughout their lives in order to remove imperfections and to appease their egos.
