Let yourself driven by all that you can be, regardless the current context where change happens, following your strongest emotions.
Eponine and Azelma did not look at Cosette. She was the same as a dog to them. Instead of playing she always had to work for Missis Thenadrier. They had a doll, which they turned over and over on their knees with all sorts of joyous chatter. From time to time Cosette raised her eyes from her knitting, and watched their play with a melancholy air.
The doll of the Thenardier sisters was very much faded, very old, and much broken; but it seemed none the less admirable to Cosette, who had never had a doll in her life, a real doll, to make use of the expression which all children will understand. While Eponine and Azelma were bundling up the doll, Cosette, on her side, had dressed up her sword. That done, she laid it in her arms, and sang to it softly, to lull it to sleep.
As birds make nests out of everything, so children make a doll out of anything which comes to hand. The doll is one of the most imperious needs and, at the same time, one of the most charming instincts of feminine childhood. To care for, to clothe, to deck, to dress, to undress, to redress, to teach, scold a little, to rock, to dandle, to lull to sleep, to imagine that something is some one,— therein lies the whole woman’s future. While dreaming and chattering, making tiny outfits, and baby clothes, while sewing little gowns, and corsages and bodices, the child grows into a young girl, the young girl into a big girl, the big girl into a woman. The first child is the continuation of the last doll.
So Cosette had made herself a doll out of the sword. What a sublime thing is hope for a child who knew of nothing else but disdain. *
Leadership: Can you extend your influence over those life experiences which allow the awareness of your evolutionary process, without becoming part of a single wish?
The ambition to create memorable things and take into account their contribution to the present and future, respecting the persistence and acknowledging man’s will to prioritize his emotional needs, deserves a loyalty vote from the people around, the top score from the great existential jury. But the desire to be dependent on one thing, no matter what that thing, juggles with the ability of consciousness to be different from the rest of the world, which not only attracts appreciations and praises, because man becomes the slave of a dream that does not require thought and a special understanding of the surrounding world.
We can also consider this event under different point of view. For example, only under the infinite variety of emotions and thoughts, the man, dependent on his young spirit, keeps his position for an appreciation accompanied by productivity "incentives" which count more than a thousand words, be them written or spoken. The doll is not just an object of desire, an aspiration to happiness, a motivation of one’s own struggle for a meaningful existence, but it becomes a manifestation of the virtue of being generous with your fellow men, of understanding and of helping them show humanity and compassion.
But what happens when you are greeted by an experience that dominates your imagination and dreams forever, transforming your personality into the slave of a single desire? On the one hand, this may exclude previous work, a careful study of the values that constitute the “ethical bone” of your personality.
Once you have fulfilled your desire and become her slave, your personality will be perceived from another point of view: its main characteristics, which we wish to observe in the qualities of the leader, are to be abolished in terms of self-sufficiency. It is like when you reach a high degree of wealth, absolute control of all resources, that you begin to imagine that you are the master of the world. To one who reigns with self-righteous authority but without credibility.
Leadership: Do the external references that complement your virtues or prejudices correspond with your hidden need to feel superior in the face of a beginning of life that idealizes a fictious sources of satisfaction with little chance of survival?
What you store inside your being, especially that sublime old tremor which tilts over a lot of things during the curve of time, if not even any existent reasonable norm, completing something good and beautiful within you, will find itself in everything you achieve in the position of a leader.
Only by being aware of the dimension of the identity that tests you when you suddenly find yourself in dramatic or dark situation, only if you gather all your inner emotions and you let them out wholly, will you be able to budge from their place mercy and acceptation of a life without horizon.
Thus, there is one factor that can take away your value, reducing leadership to nothingness and ripping off any kind of humanity: the disdain of believing in your own feelings, denying the past, restraining the child within you.
Which favors the manifestations of the individual, justified compared to the specific duties of leaders filled with the lucidity of higher perspectives, are those events or circumstances which allow the awareness of the evolutionary process they go through.
Starting from working with himself in order to recover the dimension of his being, continuing with the effort invested in order to give his best, the leader will be able to complete his internal "product", also known as conscience. And to personalize it with new ways of expressing himself and of understanding the world with interpretations of reality from a different perspective, with roles that highlight his inner beauty and grant value to others.
Leadership contributes to shaping a higher perspective on things received through a lucid consciousness, but cannot justify its effects when the object of your desires becomes the extension of a self-image of affection that does not follow any other criteria than aesthetic and artificial.
The Continuation of the Last Doll highlights the reality of those past events which influence your evolution as a more and more "humane" leader, in your own benefit, and in the benefit of others, of the world you live in, in comparison with the hope you always had in you: to be free, to live by your own rule, to follow your dreams, to lead your own life.
