Look At Me Well… But Do It Differently

You cannot know things in themselves, but only the way they appear to you as a perception of the difference between you and the image you attach yourself to.

I’m looking at a bike now, that’s exactly what I’m doing, I’m looking at a bike with which I think I could cover hundreds of kilometers without problems. In fact, I don’t need more than the image of a bicycle to bless my soul with the sight of eyes designed exclusively to identify the beauty that comes from the surrounding things. Moreover, turning the axis of vision towards the center of the magic square, Orevinthus Thacrosm, a unitary whole whose goal is harmony with the surrounding reality, it would be said that my main talent is capturing, in a quick and natural way, the beauty of things that surround me.

From here comes the power of my passion for the “image language” built as an attempt to recover the space full of affectivity, as an integral transposition of the artist in each of his works, to confirm the depth of an impression about vision, sublime, about beauty and knowledge, about emotion and creative freedom.

That’s the way things are. Art takes shape starting from what you see, visionary and revolutionary, or even utopian, highlighted due to the visionary spirit and the aspiration towards perfection. And this well-maintained, artistically crafted bike, probably made to order, well equipped for bumpy roads, seems to be trying to reach out to me. It is as if I saw it thrown in front of me, in a moving, splendid mirage, a fragment of the passionate dream of Icarus, in an attempt to widen a horizon lost from sight.

I feel wonderful around the bike, like an artist who doesn’t aggressively build his image, like many others, but who just wants to showcase his craftsmanship and skill. As the only element of enjoyment, this very technological object par excellence seeks to read my thoughts, causing some of those hopes to be born in me that crush all obstacles, all reactions. I tell you, when I look at her, patient, understanding and docile, so eager to take in the horizon, it seems that she also looks at me with the same eyes, with those eyes that are easy to look at and hard to forget, which have the right to admire and praise in human language: ”I have nothing but words of surprise and admiration for this artist who beautified me down to the smallest detail”.

Can you reinvent the story of your life by appealing to the suggestive power of an image, in accordance with the revelation of a novel vision of reality that only your Self can create?

Like an artist who sees the fulfillment of his creation, I felt the joy of a great fulfillment seeing the bike allowing itself to be looked at for a long time, admired like a star, throbbing with fresh youth. It reveals that world of utopian feelings in which I myself live when my imagination takes me far too far, in the sense of making a leap across the ages. All my future, all my calculations, all my greatness, all my foundation rests on this “unmoved first mover” which has the cause of movement itself. The fidelity of an image is always subject to a judgment of artistic value.

Perhaps certain atmospheric conditions influence her, or perhaps they are completely foreign to her, but however she carries her thoughts, I imagine myself as her friend in advance, telling her that she will never waste her beauty, for any time. My thoughts, my soul, my hope are with her, even when I imagine that I am thinking about something else, in an attempt to recover the space subordinated to the pictorial matter of a strong drawing, made of lines full of strength and monumentality, as important to creation as the state which the artist has in front of the easel.

Even though I don’t know her well, I still think about her, hoping that I will find her even if I go to another city.

And if I project a state of my soul in her image, because the main thing about her value is not the purchase price, but the depth of the state she triggers among the viewers, and because the emotions she conveys to me through the image allow me to increase in my consciousness older parts of the life I led, more distant but essential parts, it is because I feel the pleasure that comes from talking with a superior man who has succeeded in rejecting the past and truly understanding the present.

How do you measure the breadth of your creation by observing everything around you, when the argument for a possible expansion of the imagination offers “openness to being”?

And when I look at her, she also looks at me in the same way to unleash that breath of idealism, of noble ideas, of hopes, an ideal of freedom so specific to the futurists in which the individual is put in the foreground by the abstract and surrealist compositions. The bicycle is not a being, the subject of experiences and other lasting mental states, nevertheless it represents a life-giving power. Because it touches every vital part: the brain, the heart, the nerves, this being the reason that seeks with coldness to reveal its passion for the setting and ambience of various events, with the risk of the impossibility of being immortalized in marble for eternity.

If the bicycle is a theme of creation, then the argument of a possible expansion of the imagination will give the “opening to the being”, that is, becoming a being, as Noica would say, perhaps because, undoubtedly, it is inseparable from the love of the cyclist who pilots it, this being the first feature that comes to be added to the following cumulative conditions: the memories, the emotions, the sum of the facts included in the gallery of the great gender events of life. Very well, I would say, look at the bicycle, full of harmony and elegance, it is an effective means of removing the monotony of straight, horizontal and vertical lines.

And after all, is it not? How many fleeting but patient observations, some less serene, must you collect on the regular movement that it goes through as a science of moving from point A to point B, so that you imagine you are painting, from the alternation of black spokes with beautifully polished ones, a world from which no one understands anything, but which leaves room for imagination and creativity.

The extent of a creation carried out in the realm of leadership is measured by the admiration you show for that thing invested with the force to produce a transformation in you, challenging you to see the world differently. However, eventual heartbreak can occur when what you see seems against you, changing your mood.

Behold that the bicycle, a splendid technological innovation, proved able to arouse admiration, the disposition to see in its neighbor an equal, not only through the diversity of emotions to which the “vision beyond imagination” was subjected, but through its power of turning a small thing into a special world, enlivened by a dignified life, full of joy and activity.

Getting to be her friend, as a very pious Christian, I was able to enter a rejuvenating world where beauty, health, adventure and risk reign. And I still think about it, fondly, with the view remixed by imagination, comparing it to the process of creating an intuitive painting in which the symbol of the mirror is capitalized: “see around only what attracts you to you”.

Look At Me Well… But Do It Differently. This is the message that the reunion with the object of your reflection conveys to you, taking into account the fact that what you see around you is synonymous with what is valuable in you, not with what happens in the objective reality, shared by others. I think the image of the bicycle mediated the relationship between reality and myself very well.

Also, I think writer Liviu Damian was right: “We know things according to their nature or what things are in themselves and we allow what we know about things, their properties, to determine the content and form of knowledge. This is what happens in everyday experience.”
