Look At What Other Eyes Are Not Given To See

“Always in a strong soul is found the emotion and warmth necessary for a subtle impulse that leads to the search for beauty.”

It was rainy, foggy weather, in which you wouldn’t have taken your gloves off your hands and your nose from behind your scarf. Thick mud was everywhere, the humidity seeping worryingly to the bone. I had reached the end of the half-marathon race, and shivering from the cold, I entered a nearby restaurant to serve hot tea. A quiet yet unsettling refuge from the outside world. From there I could see through the window the new arrivals at the finish line, how they proclaimed, as if in unison, the pride of being strong in themselves, the pride of having come out with the forehead held high from the confrontation called “the race against time”.

In their silent, discreet, but somewhat unsettling soul, contradictory feelings were mixed, as two opposite colors are mixed in a painting that betrays the influence of chiaroscuro. First, there was admiration for the progress made, an emotion that put them in relation to the world and in meeting it, then there was that depressing compassion for an embittered and helpless being, deeply manifested with the thought of what each of them had to face to successfully face a situation, almost tragic in its generalization, which had been practically the equivalent of a short passage through hell.

Obviously. The moment I looked into their serene eyes, but somehow troubled by an inner struggle, through the senses awakened in me by the representation of a grayscale image, I imagined that I had come into possession of a molto sensibile secret that gradually opens, greets your senses with energy charge, but it can affect to the highest degree the life that another person has to live, be he even the man in the image that inspires you. He calls you, calls you, calls you, but does not follow you, rather leaves you lost in search of a new beginning.

Leadership: Can you change the background of an image that impresses you, dividing it into several specific parts, so that you get a feeling that would otherwise never arise?

My invigorating eyes, free to see what they were accustomed to see, saw the message of foreign eyes by myself. Absolutely incredible organs, the eyes of the other runners seemed to have retained something from a reality always identical to that suggested by the frame of a painting that gives the illusion of the abstract, remaining, however, deeply attached to the visible matter. As if they were looking for a logical answer to the miracle they had witnessed unwillingly, that Sientethelis Esspyn Aspertithos , living through the image in the mirror of nature, an experience which presents itself to the soul as a symbol of a spiritual experience passed through the acceptance of the paradoxical, but solved by the intervention of the miraculous.

Can I quickly change the background of this image by dividing it into several specific parts to achieve a feeling that would otherwise never occur? And if the image captured by the artist’s eye aligns and passes into a magical, poetically expressed, admiring realm, then the runners would be part of the category of “views from which a story is told”, suggesting at the same time the illumination of the reconciled figure with the result obtained at final.

That’s what I did. By dividing the image into several parts, shaded parts, bright parts, expressive or connotative parts, realistic or symbolic, sensory or dynamic parts, I managed to change the destination of the final message: “Only what consumes you and tires you enormously causes you that strong emotion what invades your heart.”

Yes. I was looking out the window at the faces of the runners overwhelmed by the feeling of a victory that shapes the story of a world that, alas, no one knows how to tell anymore. Their faces expressed an attitude of acceptance and openness to the unknown of natural phenomena, a fact that brought new experiences of visual representation through a predominance of emotions over reason. And, happy that they reached the end in such a capricious time, they stood out on the tangent plane to the dynamic and bewildering spectacle of nature, being part of a reality called “Fragmentism” – graphically marked by shadow shapes and light placed in slightly unstable balances, but harmoniously inserted into an enlivening microcosm.

Leadership: Does the image you have in mind go more to the senses than to the intellect, but it takes a long time to attribute the meaning of “opening inward”?

What is distinguished in this atmosphere of victory over oneself, a fact that allows me to make a clear distinction between an art that is reduced only to what the painter’s retina retains and an art through which feelings can be expressed, is the attempt to escape, to detach yourself from the known and trivialized universe, to launch yourself into the unknown as a daring explorer, to “find something new”.

In this way you become a much stronger, more determined, but also much more sensitive person. This is exactly what conveys the state experienced by the hero of the writer Marguerite Yourcenar in “The Philosopher’s Stone”:

“It had often happened to him to open a door, only to show himself that it had not closed forever behind him. To turn to a passerby who had moved away, only to deny the finality of a separation, thus demonstrating his limited human freedom. This time he had committed an irreversible deed, he knew that he would eventually separate from the force of nature, and he would remain only a body passed from the state of nature, in which he enjoyed freedom, to the state of pure consciousness known as “light”. His heart was beating wildly. A violent and disorderly activity was taking place in his body, as in a defeated country where all the combatants had laid down their arms. He felt a kind of tenderness for that body which had served him faithfully, which would after all, he could have borne the hardships for a long time…”

Rightly. The beautiful in art is the meaningful image that is never forgotten, that vibrant image that conveys an optimistic message to all of us: what you feel positively charges you is the result of what you experienced in the moments when you could only you accept the pain and whims of nature.

Leadership is learning to detach yourself from that way of being imposed from the outside, but which ends up defining you in the higher plane of a moment of reflection: what consumes you, at the same time “charges” you.

All performance runners have learned this lesson.

And if it is true what someone said, that always in a strong soul there is the emotion and warmth necessary for a subtle impulse that leads to the search for beauty, then what makes me integrate into an enviable image, probably loving myself more, is the belief that I can always deny definitively a separation from the present moment, and visually transpose myself to a higher plane from where I can look at my life as if I were taking part in a memorable adventure…

Look At What Other Eyes Are Not Given To See if you want to fit into a double-opening image: an image that gives you a sense of Deja-Vu and an image that gives you a context for you to make sense of what you choose to understand.
