Luke's Wandering
Decipher the meaning of your value and your development by giving your actions a certain meaning that would not be in disagreement with your conscience.
Have you seen the movie " Cool Hand Luke (1967)"? The main character, Luke, played by the actor Paul Newman, is sentenced to two years in prison for the devastation of public property in a state of advanced drunkenness. During his detention, he causes a series of acts of insubordination and defiance. However, the worst thing that he committed, due to which he stirred the hatred and disdain of the prison’s officials and guards, were his attempts (unsuccessful) to escape.
At one point, after the second escape, Luke reaches a small village at the edge of town. The police was after him. The hunting dogs had taken his trace. He had to hide. He had to do everything possible to lose his traces. For this, he scattered on the road, behind him, spices such as chilly, pepper, curry, etc.., thus managing to alter the dogs’ sense of smell, in this way being able to continue his escape.
Nevertheless, every time Luke is caught, despite his numerous attempts to fool the police. Finally, he realizes that escapes are in vain, and that the existence of a man would always be questioned if he does not change by himself... for the better.
Leadership: Are you the kind of person who seeks perfection in glorification and in the use of sensational means, through the subjective prism of a character (as an internal focal point) capable of captivating the world with a story that slides imperceptibly into the fantastic?
Each of us reaches at a time to think like a fugitive, as Luke, respectively to feel like a helpless victim struggling for freedom, dignity and happiness. We want to erase the traces of our own actions when we make mistakes, and to become someone else. We want to change the situation where we put ourselves, we want to get rid of our consciousness which disturbs us - of this inconvenient tracker who is always on our traces and wants to run us down. However, we can never get rid of our barriers, of those moods that break down our inner harmony. Everything leaves visible traces in our being, no matter how much we try to change. For, when we make mistakes, we cannot live peacefully and in goodness.
Listen to your heart. Meditate on your own self, on your own actions; strive to recognize your emotional stimuli that contribute to your development on the sense of the road that you follow in life. Make the balance of your existence. Try to understand yourself. Is life slipping through your fingers? Or, your life means always running and hiding the traces of your own choices?
The balance, which includes many and essential victories, but also failures, reopens your doors to your own retrieval, puts you in front of the consequences of some experiences that you have lived before, either positive or negative, prompting you to reevaluate the way in which you concentrate your energies and express yourself, without getting alienated from others around you. You cannot overcome the difficulties of life through irony.
Leadership: Do you focus on the meaning of the path you are following in life, putting aside that sensitive side of yourself that pours all its attention into what is called “character substitution”?
Putting aside that sensitive side of you that pours all its attention into what is called “character substitution”, means giving up that Ego that always tries to defeat others through a double opposition: by relating to a definite experience of the moral act and in relation to a reality that has all the chances to turn into a legend.
Basically, to substitute your identity with another person who is worthy of resembling a movie character, means to get emotionally involved in a story that is not yours, a story that starts from the real, to pass in a dream, to return again to a seemingly real world. Can you play the role of a character who demonstrates his talent to convey emotions and make the reader experience the whole story with bated breath, without creating from reality the illusion of a more beautiful existence and closer to the ideal of complete freedom?
In order to become a good leader you must, first of all, be in harmony with yourself and with the realities around you. Your existence, your conceptions and values will have a greater influence in determining your progress. Of your character, of your emotions and feelings that emanate from your manifestations, of your attitude depends on your moral development and your existence in general, causing the reaction of others to you, and therefore, the results that you get, or in their absence.
Just as a film director who wants to make a biographical film seeks first to decipher the sense, the meaning of the character’s actions, so and you, if you want your leadership to gain essence and have a positive impact and as strong as possible on the other people, first you need to decipher the meaning of your own existence, the meaning of your own values and purposes of your own development by giving your actions a certain significance that would not be in disagreement with your conscience.
A character with the role of internal focus, which you have to build from scratch, is the result of an Ego that has not been modified by the influence of the outside world, and which cannot be reduced to direct relations with the content of visible reality. In this case, your Ego is a character who seeks to turn life into a work of art, continuing to amaze even when no one is around to see him.
Luke's Wandering highlights the way in which we feel and the way in which we act when we are put in disorienting situations of life, when the path that we follow turns suddenly, moving our life to some negative values which limit our potential, aspirations, actions and block our progress.
Someone said: "On the road that you cross in life you are faced with the consequences of the experiences that you've lived before, either positive or negative." If you want to ensure yourself a good future, if you intend to climb up above the hierarchy, then you shall avoid turning into a victim just waiting to be released from the limits of the lifestyle established by yourself. But, turn yourself into a more sentient being, more vibrant, that is oriented towards his moral development, conscious and free to meet his own spiritual calling.
Conclusion: For each of us and especially for a leader it is important to establish a purpose in life. Once established, you must choose the shortest paths and more righteous to reach it. During them, you have to make a stoppage from time to time in order to see if you are not lost, if you did not get on other bypass ways, longer, and even on ways that get you away from the intended purpose.
The more stringent you are with yourself, the more you get closer to your goal. The more you act in disagreement with yourself and with the others, the more you lengthen the road to achieving your goal.
Those who have not settled their purpose in life and have preferred to be like wanderers find out in the beating storms of life, they will find towards the end of their lives that have lived in vain and that their existence has no sense.
