Open Your Eyes. And Close Them
The creator is an artist because he knows how to look at a vast space with eyes with which he knows how to see in his soul the feeling of total fusion with infinity.
What happens to my eyes, clear, bold, penetrating, is what happens to the sea when I address them with my life story: the eyes become the central symbol in a painting that is not necessarily descriptive, but evocative and profoundly poetic. Here, then, is a sense of satisfaction with the environment, a sense of peace and security. At other times, when the sea is turbulent, strong winds blowing over it, I begin to face a sensation of sand in my eyes, causing the whole painting of my world, evolving according to the times, to acquire a darker or colder tone.
Can this be ignored? My eyes move in all directions, naturally, mechanically, instinctively, without the sea knowing what they are after when the waves become pleasures to the eye. And I wonder: is it natural to let my eyes look at an image that also addresses the hearing, not just the visual, through an aesthetic of effervescent and vivid colors on which are placed the emotions generated by the restlessness of the sea, regarding the turmoil of the sea identified with my own being?
Strokes of the eyes, part of a broader interpretive art, directed towards a wider spectrum of sensitivity, forces of suggestion of unforgettable memories, here are these images that I am beginning to understand better only with regard to the sea, with its waves that sometimes make me forget. And, like it, the Black Sea is very cold, especially in winter, any suffering and shortcomings finding in it a great power of resistance.
Does some indiscretion make me wonder why it’s salty? And the sea would answer me: „I am salty because of the tears I shed for all those who do not have the courage to step into the unknown to know me.”
Can you highlight the essence of a dynamic of life given by your association with the various representations of a space marked by vastness that reflects the particularity of a story with emotional implications?
As I looked at the sea with the eyes of an artist, with respect, with a penchant for a space of mystery and immortality, I could not help but hear the gentle voice from either the heights of heaven or the depths of the earth, or perhaps it was that voice springing from the depths of my confessional conscience. It also commanded me: „Close your eyes and let yourself be carried away by a story.”
I closed my eyes and listened to my voice. A timeless storm seemed to pull me back. I wasn’t interested in seeing anything, but I’ve seen it my whole life, and she wanted to hear me. Then the voice commanded me again: „Open your eyes and awaken your senses ! ”
When I opened my eyes, I suddenly regained the sight with which the artist must identify before rendering light and shadow in the drawing. A chiaroscuro surrounded my visionary side. There was silence, a twilight silence. Then the spirit of the beauty of the sea, hidden in a setting dominated by majestic expanses, spoke to me like a character embodied in the work of Mika Waltari, in accordance with the world of Dionysius:
„I will gladly follow you. I will follow you as long as possible. But which way will we go after we leave these seas, we have no way of knowing, because no one knows his destiny beforehand. I have the courage to defy the immortal gods by raising my hand to agree to something as uncertain and unpredictable as all other things on earth.”
Feeling a shiver run through my body, I closed my eyes again, and from the spirit of the artist – with the ancient spirit of the sea – a series of transient images appeared, like a moving mosaic of puzzles, full of accidental colors.
A voice from the heavens, like a gentle voice from the dark depths, greeted me again, but this time with that echo of the siren song. And it told me for the last time: „An artist who is not engulfed by impersonal inspiration will never be able to look at the sea, which changes color according to the weather.”
Then I opened my eyes and was amazed at what I saw...
Leadership is the inspiration you need to keep in mind when building your vision of a model of reality that pushes you toward creation, even when the immediate reality takes precedence over the momentum of amplifying an emotion over a temporary period of time.
Open Your Eyes. And Close Them.. This is the message of an artist who knows how to give his life an extra imagination springing from an endless tenderness of memory, feeling the shape, the proportions of a large expanse, and successfully reflecting this on a piece of canvas. Whereas here intervenes the infinite: the continuous dialogue between what is happening outside you and what is happening in your mind.
The sea symbolizes infinity, time, eternity – covered with the eyes, with the soul, with the mind...
