When Columbo investigates a case, no killer escapes. Yes, that it is. The cute detective Columbo, never failed when it came to detecting criminals and catching them. He had an almost brilliant intuition in quickly identifying the most relevant information and linking the details seemingly unimportant at first sight. However, the secret of his success was not only due to his intuition, but also to his very sophisticated method that he applied in the process of investigation.

To be sure that the murderer was the suspect whom he was investigating, Columbo had to check his reasoning.

For example, in one of the episodes, during the investigation, Columbo asks the supposed murderer to help him reconstruct how the crime was committed. Thus, on the reason that he does not like guns, Columbo gives a gun to the suspect and asks him to shoot a bullet in a brand-new sponge mattress in order to investigate whether the bullet it is shot identical to that found in the victim's body.
