The Confidence Of A Master
Imprint your leadership a particularly expressive character through your power to coordinate the factors contributing to your own development.
When building the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the great sculptor Bourdelle was not just the sculptor-decorator, but he was also responsible for the general idea of the facade and the interior design. Only for the facade of the theater, Bourdelle made 17 designs and finally found the clearest solution, organically combining smooth, calm surfaces, in regular rhythm, with carved reliefs.
The marble tiles, which portray Apollo and the muses as eternal poetic allusions, were carved in large, composed plans, in perfect accord with the spirit of modern architecture. Bourdelle said: “The wall itself must appear animated in some places, in a determined order, by taking human form.”*
Is your creation evolving towards a model based on a comprehensive approach, in the event of obtaining a visual performance that will hardly be surpassed?
Your true value, as a leader, is given by your role in creating and promoting your own leadership style, your own approach to “the façade and the interior” of your own personality, without impurities, which increase your level of performance and influence. You again are responsible for building your own model for strengthening your control position, and for examining ways to strengthen your own ability to form skills necessary for performing tasks in a more efficient manner.
Just as a painter creates valuable work by the depth of observation based on reality, so you can stand above others, giving your leadership a form through which to emphasize your experience. On great sculptors, especially Bourdelle, everything had to be translated into a form through which they hallmarked their own style. It’s the same story with leadership, which evolves through the form it receives after you, in advance, have shaped and polished your character.
You can stand above others if you successfully combine “shape” and “functionality”, meaning if you combine character with skills.
Understanding the priorities and processes that improve your performance are critical elements of success in leadership. The strength of concentrating your energy towards the dimension of Artistic Creation is manifested mainly during the act of creating your own value, intelligent and comprehensive, when you take a step closer to perfection. In order to get closer to excellence, focus your thinking and actions explicitly to the elements (related to the influence of values and your own character) that don’t work at optimum parameters.
A visual performance that can hardly be surpassed is actually aimed at that part of your creation that is under the sign of passion for excellence, through the interest shown in establishing the causal links of design ideas accumulated over time.
What leads to the proliferation of explored ideas? What leads to the avoidance of overly specific ideas and harms the creative process? What triggers the process of updating innate ideas? What leads to the crystallization of ideas and facilitates decision-making? What leads to the concentration of ideas and the achievement of results?
The Safety Of A Master is what guides you and helps you to get to the point where you can say: “I am excellent.” But, for that, just as a painter, you must create harmony among all your strengths and weaknesses, between all the elements constituting your leadership, until you get a flawless final form.
Have you discovered the true benefits of the effects your leadership has? What are the limits that define your style? What do the characteristics of your leadership have in common? Is “form” a vital necessity your leadership depends on? Have you clearly defined those areas of risk, those concepts that do not work?
Imprint your leadership a particularly expressive character through your power to coordinate the factors contributing to your own development.
Conclusion: In leadership, as well, the harmonious mix between form and content leads to the success wanted by the leader. In leadership, lack of safety, oscillations, babble merely reduce the leader’s value, role and power of coordination. Any dissonance and oscillation will be charged.
