The Image That Quite Clearly Depicts The Teachings Of Occultism

A true leader knows how to create an image that up-close looks identical to the one from afar, without ending up identifying too much with the image he projects to the rest of the world.

Let me tell you what I saw again today in a book written by Papus. He wrote that man considers himself the sole creator and sole judge of his destiny, being free to act as he pleases in the circle of his fatality, just as a passenger can act in a steamship as he pleases in his compartment. God can no longer be pointed out as an accomplice to human error, any more than the captain of the ship is responsible for the fantasies of the passengers he carries forward.

But, read on, and you will find that God, as it appears at first sight, is the totality of all that exists, and man is subject to a change that he cannot control. Here is the picture which shows quite clearly the teachings of Occultism in regards to this problem of change caused by an unsuspected force.

A steamship is launched on the vast Ocean and floats towards the endpoint set by the term of the journey. Everything the ship contains is driven forward. And yet everyone is free to organize their compartment as they like. Everyone is free to go up on deck to contemplate the infinite, or go down to the bottom of the hold.

Forward progress is made every day for the whole mass of people. But each individuality is free to act as they please within the circle of action they are given to share. All classes are there on that ship, from the poor emigrant who sleeps in a sack to the rich Yankee who occupies a luxury compartment. And the speed is the same for all, be they rich, poor, great or small, all will reach the end of the journey at the same time.

Can you outline the ideal image of a present that decides its future, in an attempt to analyze what happens in the relationship between a content that is called “will of power” and a compelling content that is not seen?

An unconscious machine operating according to strict laws sets the whole system in motion. A blind force (steam) channeled into metal tubes and organs, generated by a special factor (heat) animates the entire machine. One will, which dominates the organic machine together with the passenger assemblage, governs everything: the captain. Indifferent to the particular action of each passenger, the captain, eyes fixed on the target to be reached, hand on the rudder, leads the immense organism to the term of the journey, giving his orders to the army of intelligences that obey him.

But the captain does not directly command the propeller that sets the ship in motion, he has no immediate effect except on the rudder. Thus the Universe can be compared to a huge steamship, where the one we call God holds the helm. Nature is the machine synthesized in the propeller that sets the whole system in motion according to strict laws, and humans are the Passengers. The captain does not intervene in the details of the driving machinery (image of nature), or in the occupations of the passengers. He circumferentially governs the overall system. He has nothing to do with what happens inside the compartments.

Progress exists, generally, for the whole system, but each human being is absolutely free in the circle of his own fatality. Whether they want it or not, regardless of their will, whatever they have in their head and soul, whatever plans they have, all the passengers are heading in one direction. But not so much in the direction that the captain commands, but in the direction that the stormy sea decides: the heavy waves, the hard rocks, the ocean currents, the capricious weather. As you can see, the captain himself, together with his vessel, are two fragile entities totally subject to the forces of nature.

Of course, the understanding of this fact is much more complicated than it seems at first sight, although if we were to fit into a single picture everything that provides us as an example of everyday reality, we will find that we are powerless to follow a certain fixed path as we wanted. Or we follow a path that we believe is valid, and all we find is a dead end, an illusion, only to have to go back the way we came, retrace our steps, and try another approach. And so on… until our will happens to please the Divine Nature.

Can you generate a certain manifestation of power where the feelings, thoughts and memory of an event are completely circumscribed to that past event, so that fragments of it are no longer automatically reproduced in other situations?

Shakespeare knew this well when he told about how Prospero directed all the elements of nature with a cosmic will. People try to make their way in life, not suspecting that there is another higher and truly unique knowledge that has a great influence on them.

Having some powerful spirits under his command, but obedient to his will, Prospero could by their means command the winds and waves of the sea. At his command, the spirits stirred up a violent storm, in the midst of which a ship was trying to stay afloat in the struggle with the wild waves of the sea that every moment threatened to swallow it. Prospero showed his daughter this beautiful ship, which he told her was full of living things. “Oh, my dear father”, said she, “if by thy art thou hast raised this fearful tempest, pity their sad plight. See ! The vessel will be dashed to pieces. Poor souls ! they will all perish. If I had power, I would sink the sea under the earth, rather than the beautiful ship be destroyed, with all the precious souls within it.”

What conclusion do we draw from this? Man conducts his life to such an extent that what happens in it appears as if it happens completely in him. His experiences, as vivid and varied as possible, are approached either in the memory of the event in its entirety, or they are circumscribed to that past event, so that fragments of it are no longer automatically produced in other situations. My objection to this is that man takes the Work of God as a discrete collection of events, and this in accordance with the word “introversion” which stutters into a deep vision of existence.

But God’s science is so subtle that it sometimes gets confused with nature, and man takes nature as something that needs no help to function or exist. But what God leaves out of understanding, mainly, is the content of the relationship between leader and subordinate, and only by successfully fulfilling the role of leader can certain advantages be ensured to subordinates. Is it not so?

Are you able to change your way of acting when you understand the primordial cause that led to a certain manifestation of will attributed to conditioning based on a priori premises?

Let’s say that God is the personalized and well-determined content, that of pure a priori knowledge, a content that cannot be seen, and to which people refer with difficulties in understanding. It is the image of a permanent Self to which the ephemeral consequences of various situations gradually submit. Although it is not perfectly understood how exactly this “Primordial Consciousness” mediates these events and connections between facts, things and experiences, without which nothing would be possible, one thing is certain: it is impossible to perceive an insignificant thing, like a whisper in the storm, when you are isolated from your life context, without asking yourself why a trivial situation has a strange “I don’t understand” effect.

You cannot only be a spectator of life. You are the subject of life, um passado absorvido em um presente que busca seu futuro, but you are also the promoter of your own vision of an invisible hand that guides things. Without being put in a state of trial you will not realize that there is a direct relationship between the meaning of an event and the affective reaction to it.

You do this by substituting for your immediate life experience a temporal interpretation in which your “true worth” is inevitably compromised by a strange presence that does not avoid you, watching absently at everything that happens to you, but changes everything that you set out to do. And if you try to forget what happened to you, moving away as much as possible from the event that happened, directing your thoughts elsewhere, suddenly you find yourself in the middle of the storm. In such a situation, don’t be afraid to turn back from the road, because the weather can take you by surprise anyway (even if you want to find consolation in the thought that it can’t get any worse).

In leadership, the conviction that you have to act to achieve your goal justifies the reason for eventual success, but it does not provide any future certainty, because success will always depend on random external phenomena, not only on your own actions.

Be willing to act by accepting this idea ! Use your intellectual capacities to the maximum to get a clear idea about the above points.

The Image That Quite Clearly Depicts The Teachings Of Occultism is the image of a ship whose main route becomes the bypass route that passes through several stages: stagnation (losing much of the importance it had), and correction (to prevent any opposition, any actions contrary to the divine will).

Be flexible and adaptable in the steps taken to achieve the proposed goal. Things will always take a different turn than you planned, just so you understand that everything depends only on God. By this, He demonstrates His unseen, unimaginable and inexplicable power.
