The Man Who Retreated To The Nameless Place
Approach that value maturity assumed through the determination to rise higher than the condition of your formation, limited by the truths of the surrounding reality.
Edward Prendick is the main character of the novel "The Island of Dr. Moreau". The reader’s attention is directed mostly to the attitude and thoughts of this upper-class gentleman, shared at the novel’s finale:
"I have retreated from the bustle of cities and crowds and I spend my days surrounded by books full of wisdom, bright windows in this life of ours. I dedicate much of my time to reading and to the experiences of chemistry, and many clear nights I spend studying astronomy. I still struggle with the imagination of picture of movement, but I do not really move.
There exists in countless twinkling stars in the sky a feeling of infinite peace and protection, although I do not know how and why. There, I believe, in the vast and eternal laws of matter, and not in the worries, sins, and daily sorrows of men, must find its solace and hope everything that is above the status of an animal within us. At least, I hope so, because otherwise I would not be able to continue living. And so, with hope and loneliness, my story ends."
Do you feel exposed to a context full of life that accelerates the expansion of your consciousness towards an area of your willingness to accept your limits and the condition of a fragile being?
Introspective disposition can be attributed to the responsiveness to life’s demands as well as to the responsiveness to the demands of the greatness of shaping yourself on an ever-higher level of your spirit. This disposition represents an analysis over the motivation to overcome the state of uncertainty or indeterminacy, towards everything around you, through a sense of ownership of truths that led to the materialization of a certain reality.
The perception of your own person combines the power of accepting truths discovered through the experience of astounding situations, with the harsh reality of an existence that exposes you to an exclusion from the middle of the world.
The hardest battle you must endure throughout your life, in the face of a reality that often times you do not desire, but most accept as a sacrifice of the superior man in his desire to reach a higher level of understanding of the world, is the one which is given between your heart and your mind, because you never know which one to listen to.
The truth on which a personality of great scientific value is built can be expressed in the following way: everything that is above you is part of the power of loneliness that tends towards the unity of faith in the effort to achieve personal perfection.
To know those truths that contradict personal beliefs is one of the causes of transforming the reason of existence into a deficit of selfness. And to bear these truths, starting from the perception analysis of people who control states of mind, actually means to get close to that value of maturity assumed through the determination to rise higher than the condition of your formation, limited by what happens around you. Keep your serenity amidst the chaos !
Maturity does not mean to choose and adopt what better represents you as a man who takes a lot of feedback from real life, harshly and accurately judging the world in which he lives. It means to accept that you have the ability to be what you want to be despite the truths of a reality that fuel your alienation from everything and everyone.
The deepest need of the scientist is to endure his isolation, to feel his loneliness in a way beyond the ordinary of things, in order to reach the unity of true faith. Therefore, this man’s faith in the perspective of his endless perfection is related to the ability to face his Ego, to resist the pressures of being like other people, that is, to take on the challenge of not being the representative of such a divided, disarticulated world facing extinction.
Great scientists, like Edward Prendick, choose to live their loneliness in a world of theirs, of creation, of imagination, of aspiration to the absolute, to perfection, preferring to create a false image, hiding in anonymity, than to be in the forefront of a world that is not yet ready to accept the change, the revelation of divine truths.
The great fact of the destiny of “Creator and Discoverer” is the perfection you reach when you say “NO” to a world that is diagnosed in some places as transient, through a collage of feelings, thoughts and behaviors that inspire you to believe that the impossible is not impossible.
The Man Who Retreated To The Nameless Place is one step away from winning his rightful place on the list of the great discoverers of the meaning of life.
The force of such a man to accept reality and endure difficulty to combat truths must be greater than the sadness of disappointment, at least a bit greater, but never equal, otherwise he will never be able to rise above his social condition and find a purpose.
The difficulty of the test of character is determined when you rise above your own experiences and continue to stay good and gracious, even if you feel exposed to a context of life that accelerates the expansion of your consciousness towards an area of willingness to accept your limits and the condition of a fragile being.
