The Passion Of The Iceman
Build your ascent to perfection, by removing all those parts of your consciousness that are in opposition to your true values and beliefs.
- Pain is bad... Make it go away. You can help me, sir. Take me to the world beyond – said the sick old woman to Joe Black, immobilized in a wheelchair, suffering from a tumor that affected her whole body. It was obvious that she recognized the evil spirit that dwelt in him.
The Prince of Darkness, in the person of Joe Black, distinguishing in her voice the disappointment generated by the situation in which she was, and then the lack of confidence and the fear that she felt for him, he looked at her totally indifferent, and talked to her with a real asperity in his voice:
- Maybe I'll help you, and maybe I will relieve your pain, but now "I’m on vacation." You have to resist a little more, old lady.
After a few days, Joe Black returned to the hospital to meet with Susan (the doctor of whom he was in love), meets again the sick old woman. This woman, sitting on the bed, overwhelmed by her own suffering, told Joe about her so severe pain.
They both looked long in the eyes. At that moment, Joe felt a sense of wound in his heart, and it seemed to him that through that wound is running a feeling. Not the passion, because the passion remained, but respect for her last wish. That staggering, and yet so powerful longing for death of the suffering woman was something more important than the understanding that he had on people. Little by little, he gave way to the sense of rejection. Suddenly, he was covered by a mild fever of an unconscious resentment towards his own fault.
Can you recompose the experience of an event from the forgotten beauty of life in a manner that engages in a game of essences beyond worldly appearances?
In terms of leadership, bringing together, despite differences in appreciation and vision, people who think differently, but also knowledge of all their events and suffering, the good administration of their contribution to ensure their constant growth in any direction exclusively concerns the production of safety and self-esteem. They are useful to have access to their fund of vitality, impetus and enthusiasm. But for it, one must also possess that spiritual and innovative dimension, which bears significance by its direct or indirect use value of the limited identity they cross in critical moments.
If you have ever stretched a rope across a river in order to move forward with a boat, does not mean that you are paddling, but that you pull the boat along the rope by hand from one hook to another.
Exactly like that are staying sometimes things in our dealings with others. We try to get as soon as possible to their souls, but instead of showing a better understanding for their concerns, and showing respect for their values and beliefs, we "pull" of them to follow us in accepting our beliefs and ideals. We make an honor of the qualities that we value so much in us, but we ignore any requirement from them.
Can your mighty spirit be tamed by the sense of human helplessness that flows from the prospect of honest suffering?
Experiencing an event from the forgotten beauty of life is necessary to refresh the consciousness of an enormous ability for empathy. Absorbing each throb of the soul, every curiosity of the mind, every fiber of the being pulsing with life, any form of nostalgia as it spreads in the strange game of chance, we get closes to beauty. Otherwise we are gray caricatures drawn by banality.
If you saw the movie "Meet Joe Black (1998)" perhaps you remember the sudden change of personality of Joe Black. He, who served with a total consistency and dedication, without ever making concessions, with scrupulously to his own rigorous principles, suddenly changed into another person. Because he is "on vacation", he has disregarded his basic duty: to transfer man into the other world.
The sick old woman was actually an exception to his so well-nailed rules, this thing helping us to recognize the extent to which an individual can detach from his fixations, and to what extent can change his attitudes through the proximity of others. She managed what no one else had managed: to soften through humiliation, through suffering and feeling of helplessness, his spirit full of darkness and strength. Due to her, the world appeared better to Joe.
Can you repair the image of a passing world if you live with the consciousness of the limits of your own condition?
In each of us lies a whole conception of the role (or purpose) that we have to achieve, which marks distinctly the thing that separates our principles of ethics and equity, by others. If you manage to penetrate the depths of their soul, if you manage to connect to their inner world, by eliminating from the arsenal of your leadership those concepts that are opposed to their value system, then you will succeed to reach that high level of quality of which each leader would feel proud.
Just as a painter imposes his style by the calm of his compositional harmonies, performed by a certain rhythm of lines, a certain refinement of color - so you too, to impose your style of leadership and the values underlying it, first you must get a certain degree of loyalty from people, by showing a strong tendency toward compassion, kindness and understanding on the way to unity and harmony.
A man's personal value comes from accepting the inevitable, and this acceptance is only possible through the intervention of someone else, almost a stranger, at the decisive moments.
The Passion of The Iceman brings attention to the transition from one stage to another of your personality, from a negative and cold attitude, to a positive one, of acceptance and sharing what is best in you. You can shine in the hearts of others, or you can overshadow willingly your ascension according to the substrate of your personality.
Just as the blood circulating throughout the body enables the functionality of all organs, so you, to ensure the functionality of the team, to cement the relationships with others, you must first change your optics about yourself, to learn expressing your feelings without coming into opposition with yourself, by removing all those parts of your consciousness that you consider "dark".
Moreover, guided by the spirit towards personal fulfillment, resist the temptation always comparing your perceptions and conceptions with others, without relying on a deeper analysis of your own personality.
Conclusion: The flexibility and malleability based on understanding of your own personality but also of others, of your own limits and of others, are human characteristics, which should be much more pronounced in a leader. They, along with compassion and empathy, must be carefully dosed, so as not to conflict with your own ego, or with the other collaborators.
Rigidity, inflexibility, the lack of understanding of human limits are defining that passionate leader and with the heart of ice.
Build your ascent to perfection, by removing all those parts of your consciousness that are in opposition to your true values and beliefs.
