The Power Of The Leader
He who does not prioritize his own Ego will not reach the Absolute and will not decipher life either.
The Romanian painter, Nicolae Grigorescu, was made to see inside of things. Silent, always thoughtful, restless, having not only the passion to observe, but also the gift of seeing, this man was unable to be satisfied only with what the shapes say on the surface. All the depth of this meditative soul demanded outside its proportion of depth, in the glance it cast upon things. He was not a hurried passer-by in this world, whom he sought to see without being seen. A hurried worker, yes. He hurried to shake off as much life as possible and understood as much as possible from the frightening flight of his moments. To see quickly, and quickly to say what he had seen.
His whole life was in his eyes. There the flame of his soul was burning. In the eyes and hands, which were just a continuation of the eyes. An urgent need to express his impressions in lines. He thought in lines. At home, on the road, in his travels around the country, as well as in his travels abroad, he noted what he saw, quickly, with the speed of instinctive movements. Even when he was sick and had to stay in bed, he felt in his hand that restlessness, that need to create. If a fly lingered on a drop of syrup on his marble table, posing for two minutes, the fly was on paper, ready to fly. In Paris, once ill and unable to move for about two weeks, all he did was draw the fantastic figures his bright eyes saw in the flowers of the wallpaper on the walls. *
Do you build your vision of a model of reality that pushes you towards creation, towards the new, even when reality becomes a prison?
What is your life: a prison or a shelter? Referring to leadership, let’s see this through the eyes of an artist who reveals the color of the imagination with the imagination of color.
The distinct color of leadership is imprinted by the one chosen by the majority of people, who have decided that it is best to represent them and ensure their interests. But the color of leadership can be likened to that of fresh, freshly picked leaves from branches that, far from being perfect, with various more visible or less visible defects, can make an excellent cake.
A leader must know and learn to feel, to perceive what he can achieve from something small, if not excellent, at least something much better… highlighting each of the components – good and bad. Being alone with yourself is not a prison, but a refuge from the endless noise of life in the middle of the world. Or, as the painter Constantin Brâncuşi said: “He who does not prioritize his own Ego will not reach the Absolute and will not decipher life either.”
Being alone with yourself is a painstaking job in which you have to learn how to enjoy yourself regardless of what happens to you when you are in the midst of the world. Yes, you certainly learn a lot about yourself from successes, but especially from mistakes, and most of all you need to know how to make sure that many accept change in all aspects of life – in thinking, in education, in behavior, in order to be in line with reality.
Is the way you visualize reality different from the way your soul resonates with the environment you are in, considering that what is happening around you is the expression of what makes you and assumed person?
“I never deliver the first blow until the stone has told me what I am to do to it. I wait until the inner image has formed well in my mind. Sometimes it takes weeks for the stone to speak to me. I have to look inside very carefully. I don’t look at any appearances. I’m moving as far away from appearances as possible.”said the painter Constantin Brâncuşi.
He was right. Before you listen to yourself, in an environment that resonates with your soul, you must observe the way time flows in your mind, you must find your energy both in the material body and in the way you visualize reality in your mind.
People’s perception of the quality of your leadership, the actions, and the decisions you make is always very clear, rarely distorted by external factors – and therefore an infallible indication, a solid foundation for your form and leadership style.
As a leader, you must first educate these people, change their mindset, apply new ways to attract them to you. There are more and more cases of leaders who indulge in the pleasure of being in the lead, neglecting the quality of their leadership, or confusing this quality with the detection of the most demanding forms of change and adaptation to the new. The quality of leadership is given by the results you get in the process of changing the Self.
Do you play the role of facilitator of change, showing people from the beginning the need for their development through a reorientation of vision, motivation and the means to stimulate their development? Or do you just play an aesthetic role, which, out of inexperience or ignorance, could turn off people’s desire to be better?
Can your leadership borrow the expression of an intense feeling that the artist is trying to convey by referring to the idea of raising man above his state of fact?
In the case of leadership, where all values, feelings, principles, beliefs are accumulated – which must be alive, able to influence, to impel, to enliven spirits – is added the problem of an objective analysis, of the systematic evaluation of man. In order for the leader to fully prove the evolution of his own Self, the proof of continuation not only of knowledge, but especially of sound principles, spirit and values, adopted and promoted, he must develop the analytical spirit that will allow him to self-assess and properly assess their people and the situations they face.
The power of the leader lies precisely in understanding the fundamental aspects of the human dimension, just as the power of the physician lies in his theoretical and practical knowledge. He finds a reliable ally in the previous process of knowing, of discovering the most uplifting feelings, aspirations, ideals that he releases, approaches, emits the human being as a whole, faced with difficult decisions (in order to complete it).
Only the knowledge of the constituent elements of the human being – by understanding its complexity, only the intelligent and beneficial manipulation of the mind and spirit that constantly nourishes its faith, the power to move forward – can prove its true value.
Only by instilling in people strong feelings that touch and vibrate the most sensitive strings in their soul can he prove the evolution of his own Self. For the functioning of leadership depends on the functioning of other people, just as the life of a racing driver depends on the perfect functioning of the engine of the car he drives.
The leader is not able to give value to his leadership alone, just as the subject is not able to give value to a picture alone.
In leadership, people are important, they always determine the size of the leader’s influence, they are the ones who determine the leader’s form of vision – but vision cannot be a criterion, and fortunately the masses will always continue to judge leadership only by results obtained. Leadership is an art that involves interpretation, the contribution of the individuality of the leader, of his creative vision.
Have you developed a solid relationship with everyone who works for you? Are you able to value your own leadership? How do you prove your true worth? How do you prove your evolution?
It is essential for a leader to know how to induce to himself and induce to others to feel that change is a necessity. And in order to accept change, he must believe in his own potential and that of the people, know how to self-motivate and motivate others, and especially believe and induce the belief that the future can be even better if changes are adopted, starting today, from now on.
Do you assist those who work for you? Do those outside your department or area of responsibility respect your opinions and ask for your advice frequently? Do those who work with you have a very good opinion of you most of the time? Are you constantly fulfilling your professional goals and objectives? Do people consider you an expert in your field and are they always looking to learn something from you? Does your performance take the team to a higher level? Are you a continuator of knowledge?
To reach the Absolute means to be aware of the power of the Ego with which you identify and which governs you in moments of reflection.
Perhaps, however, the absolute master of his own Self is that meditative spirit oriented towards loneliness, interspersed in the flow of a silent but fierce language, in any case artistic, by transmitting the emotion provoked by the most famous steps of peace of mind.
The Power Of The Leader lies in the Ego he is trying to bring forth in the midst of the world. Moreover, he must learn not to confuse the ego he perceives in others with his identity.
