Tactfully implement the necessary measures through your leadership, convincing people of your value and their efficiency.

Have you read “ The Tempest” by William Shakespeare? If so, then you remember that strong storm that arose when Alonso, King of Naples, and his followers were crossing the sea. The man who rose to the level of his leadership potential in that difficult moment wasn’t Alonso, but the boatswain.

Seeing the boatswain how firmly he dealt with the problem, how fervently he was giving valuable indication to the sailors, Gonzalo, the old and faithful adviser of the king, exclaimed:

- I take heart when I see this man. I don’t think he was meant to drown. I’ll bet that he won’t drown, even if the ship is weaker than a nut shell and leaky as a riddle.

Do you tend to carry out your actions of change and moving forward by respecting the obligation to be transparent about the conditions of a reality from which you can find no escape?

The way leadership works in some leaders resembles a costly clock that stops suddenly. And, just like skilled craftsmen, they carefully disassemble it; they notice that the springs are in good condition and its wheels are in place. So he assembles them with even greater care; but, despite their skill, they fail to make the clock function. Why?

Because everything has a limit. The solution isn’t at anyone’s hand. The leadership King Alonso needed at the time stopped suddenly, like a cranky mechanical clock, just when it had to impose its authority. As a result, he couldn’t inspire confidence to the crew. The pendulum of his leadership clock had nothing magic in itself, nor any extraordinary power, because instead of being oriented towards efficiency and results, he stopped suddenly, exactly when it should have “ticked”.

On the other hand, the boatswain, caring a lot for his life and that of his crew, didn’t let himself dominated by fear. Perhaps for this reason, he was able to command so promptly and effectively in that difficult moment. Unlike King Alonso, who was instantly seized by fear, the boatswain, with an indescribable, even glorious enthusiasm, didn’t hesitate to face the new challenge.

The measures the boatswain took (such as reconcilement, combating all form of disobedience, strengthening relationships by promoting the spirit of cooperation) proved to be effective – and that is proof of quality leadership. Therefore, he was an agent of changing people.

Therefore, to be transparent about the conditions of a reality from which you can find no escape means to use your will and insight in collaboration with the discernment of a visionary journey (nourished by an excess of pride) so that at the sight of a splendid view any tension to disappear.

Are you prepared to submit to a wide variety of dynamic conditions and offer an alternative action that expresses your unique personality, so that what you have decided to share with others is more of a necessity rather than a complementary factor?

Often people are inclined to believe that the leader is the guy who makes things work. It is true in a great measure. A true leader is endowed with a great power of penetrating the events, he always understands what is going on in people’s hearts and knows how to take them out of the state of latency, of monotony, of the negative mental state in which they sink, causing them to accept any challenge and feel the fulfillment of success, even when everything seems hopeless.

Do you leave the worrying events that occur during your mission to make you lose sight of what you should actually accomplish? Are you an incompetent person, unable to take major decisions when circumstances require them? Do you use to a maximum your skills in difficult times?

The boatswain stood up to his reputation of leader, being able to face danger with that inner, lively and uplifting impulsion, with that impetuous enthusiasm that only really firm people have, fulfilling at the same time his service duties and assuming the responsibilities of his office, while the King remained in the shadows, blanching with fear, troubled at the bottom of his heart to tears, but he understood and obeyed the orders.

The strength to recognize the weight of reality is always a necessity in extreme situations, while the glorious deed is only a complementary factor. Are you able to command with the same inner impulsion? Do you live up to your reputation? Do you create an atmosphere where people find it easier to succeed? Can you generate a productive activity? Are you a changing agent?

Often leadership is what you have decided to be following the meaning you have given to a deed that cannot be corrected, but only stopped from evolving.

Tick Tock ! Tick Tock ! Tick Tock ! is the sound of the running clock. In leadership, the answer that your potential operates at maximum capacity is people’s pulse in difficult times.

Are you able to take them out of the state of latency, of monotony, of the negative mental state in which they sink, causing them to accept any challenge and feel the fulfillment of success, even when everything seems hopeless?

Tick Tock ! Tick Tock ! Tick Tock ! Is the symbol of time that passes without cease, but, at the same time, it is the sound perceived by the leader, residing from the instrument called “a clock”, which measures the time – meaning that he works and fulfills his mission, even in critical situations. To this end, the leader must show that, during his activity, he has the appropriate skills and competencies to lead people, to apply appropriate tactics and methods in all situations.

Can you convince people of your value through the efficiency of the measures you apply?
