The Magician's Dance (II)

On April 13, 2010, in Top Leadership, by Neculai Fantanaru

Maintain yourself at the height of your own performances, enhancing as much as possible that part of your potential to be superior to others and to your own being.

The steps start to fly on the rhythms of the song. Proving that he is a weak and clumsy character, Diego manages to get out from the sight of the ruthless colonel Huerta, making him to believe that he is the one leading the dance, following his tempo and letting him take the initiative. Then, undeniably proving an exemplary psychological craft, he dresses his character with a sort of magical aura, strengthening his authority by the mystery’s suggestion. Becomes: Zorro.

Dressed all in black, like a hero of Alexandre Dumas, and hiding his face behind a mask, he guides his steps towards another type of dance, a dance which magnetizes heaps of people, a passionate, fast and fascinating dance, played with ample and dashing movements, with ups and downs, breaking of rhythm, a dance defined by vigor and agility, which raises tension among spectators and accentuates its strong temper.

What a boom, what a frenetic enthusiasm ! The faith in the magic of his character, in his power to fascinate, becomes some sort of achievement, of blessing, and he is seen like a saint, the long- awaited savior. When he, Zorro, turns up, the grateful people, with pride and respect, cease all their activities just to admire the show he offers. Nobody ever achieved success so quickly and startlingly. Everybody is, with one voice and decidedly, for their savior.

Leadership: Can you give a deeper meaning to your actions by accepting the fact that someone else’s image represents more than your abilities?

Only one man contemplates from a distance, with immovable distrust, all this magic tumult: Colonel Huerta. Who is Zorro? Who is this dangerous apparition? Who has the courage to enlighten people's mind? What triggers this savior, whipped from his bed like a winged angel, above all dangers? But – fierce fatality ! Zorro is the governor himself, the sad and lonely buffoon, always consumed of his own inability to manifest his will.

Overwhelmed by anger after learning the truth, eager as people when are led by their own interests, Huerta tries to kill Zorro in order to prove his supremacy once and for all. The scene evolves in front of all the local people. This last dance, in which the forces of good battle against the forces of evil, will decide the winner. The battle heats up. And, in the end, good triumphs.

To give a deeper meaning to your actions, once you went through all the stages of assessing previously attained results, means to introduce a differentiation in terms of emotional experiences between the hypothesis of resorting to a fictitious identity of a famous man and the fraudulent use of the identity of another person, only to build yourself a positive self-image.

Does your leadership negatively oscillate between exploring your potential of being superior and the confrontation with yourself?

Throwing forward a whole arsenal of moves, techniques and positions in an exceptional dance and theater representation, in order to get the best results, reveals both the defect that can ruin you (the addiction of being in the foreground) and the quality that can enrich you (the addiction of feeling valuable).

Leadership is negatively affected by your performance when determinism-like events become uncontrollable, they sneak up on you and you must let yourself be overwhelmed by the fact that what can stop you from your thrill is nothing other than the fear of "what others could say" if they would find out who you truly are.

If you don’t want leadership to negatively oscillate between exploring your potential of being superior and the confrontation with yourself, then personalize your inner guide by breaking the link between your superior and your inferior self. The first brings you up, but also brings you down; the second only admits reason and does not ensure you the participation in the show to promote your own value.

It’s a certainty. Without having a high-profile supporter, such as the power to resist an authority that refuses to align to your beliefs, the act itself – the dance among the fortresses of attention, among hard to reach goals and objectives, obligations and performances armored by great value, you will become just a facilitator of accession to the loneliness of high altitude.

However, by improvising your own laws of building the scene of the show on the dance steps of appearances and effects of shadow, that you are directly responsible of, you will be able to ensure yourself protection against your own weaknesses.

Leadership: Does the desire to Zoom on your becoming come from the area of guiding representations of restrictive principles, even under conditions of "low visibility"?

Leadership is not a dance for two people being in the same position as enemies. Two leaders cannot dance together the same waltz, in the same show and, at the same time, to come out both of them on the first place. One of them must lose, one of them must be disqualified. Therefore, the more the "dancing" style of one leader is better, the more he gains more supporters and admirers, to the detriment of the other, the weaker one.

Leadership is a competition where every powerful man wants to take the first place. In order to build a strong foundation for your power, you must hide your intentions and guess the next step of your opponent. Try to anticipate the obstacles from a distance, build a successful strategy and wisely make free use of de advantage of time.

Low Visibility, from the multitude of variants that favor unforeseen situations, has as a trigger your own promotion to the world under another identity in order to facilitate greater integration of the impact of your interventions on the lives of others. It is presented as follows: "Be always in sight, without displaying your status of power and authority."

The only way to defeat a wicked enemy is to be more cunning than him. This is the reality you must accept: in leadership, you are either strong or you are weak. And being strong means taking advantage of both force and stratagem, regardless if you are on the side of Good or on the side of Evil.

However, principles are stronger than intrigues, reversals of situation, diversion maneuvers or power plays. Thus, you will need to look at the factors that make it easier for you to respond in the sense of the message you take out into the world, vis-à-vis what you want to do in a context of the type: "Do not let yourself be caught up by the shape and appearance of a challenge."

The real purpose you need to assume is that of searching for the meaning of experiences and events that force you to promote a true and fair image of yourself through situations in which you feel valuable.

Conclusion: As a wise leader, you must foresee the unseen and unknown side of things, respectively of your enemies. Reality is not always what is visibly displayed in everybody's view. There are always well-hidden parts which you must discover, those mostly being the ace from your own sleeve.

In order to increase to the maximum your leadership potential, first you should provide it with immunity. How? By creating a "dance" of leadership as special and successful !
